Send Prescriptions Electronically To Pharmacy Outlet

Send Prescriptions Electronically

With the advanced technologies and innovations, it has become possible for your GP to send prescriptions electronically to the chemist you choose. You can do so through the NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).

The EPS allows your GP to send prescriptions electronically to the pharmacy you choose, without the need for a paper prescription. There is no need for you to visit your GP just to pick up a handwritten prescription if you should use the same medicine for a longer period.

The most important part of this service is the nomination. You must nominate a place where your GP can send prescriptions electronically. The place could be a pharmacy or a dispensing appliance contractor. You can use the EPS for a repeat as well as a single prescription. The pharmacy will collect your prescription and dispense your medicine, either you collect it from the pharmacy or ask the pharmacy to deliver it your home.

Many GPs and pharmacies in the UK provide the NHS Electronic Prescription Service. Your prescriptions will be sent online to the chemist you nominate if your GP offers the EPS. Your GP will explain to you when to start using the service.

Using EPS means I do not need to see my GP?

No, the EPS means that there is no need to visiting your GP to collect a handwritten prescription when you need the medicine. However, you must see your GP for regular clinical assessment, when and as required.

Nominate Pharmacy Outlet to get started with the NHS Electronic Prescription Service. Generally, there are two ways of nomination:
  1. Request your GP to record a nomination on the behalf of you
  2. Nominate Pharmacy Outlet directly by completing the online registration form
Your GP will send prescriptions electronically only after the nomination is done. You can reorder your repeat medicine from Pharmacy Outlet and get your medicine delivered to your door with free delivery.

The Electronic Prescription Service is absolutely safe, reliable and confidential. A GP and a pharmacist can see your prescription.
