Send Prescriptions Electronically

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS initiated service that gives you the chance to change how your doctor sends prescriptions electronically to the pharmacy.

What does EPS mean to you?

If you regularly collect your repeat prescriptions from your GP, you will not have to pay frequent visits to your GP surgery just to pick up your paper prescription. Instead, your GP practice will send prescription electronically to the pharmacy, saving you time.

Is EPS right for you?

The service is right for you if you have stable condition and you do not wish to visit your GP every time to pick up your prescription. Also, it is right for you if you want to get your medicines delivered to your home.

The EPS may not be right for you if you do not get prescriptions regularly or collect your medicines from different pharmacies.

How do I need to use EPS?

First, you need to choose your pharmacy so that your GP practice sends prescription electronically; this is called “nomination”. You can nominate any pharmacy that operates full EPS. You are not restricted from nominating a pharmacy near to your GP practice or home. However, you can only choose one pharmacy at a time.

Can I change or cancel my nomination and start getting a paper prescription?

Yes. If you want to change or cancel the nomination, you must first speak to your doctor and your pharmacist. More importantly, tell them before your next prescription is due; otherwise, your prescription may go the wrong place.

Pharmacy Outlet is an online pharmacy based in Surrey. It offers the NHS Electronic Prescription Service to patients who reside in England only.
