The NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is a new way
to get your medications and medical products.
If you receive your repeat prescriptions from your GP, you
have to visit your GP to collect your paper prescription. Instead, your GP will
send the prescription electronically to the place you prefer, saving you time.
The EPS is an amazing service initiated by the NHS. It
changes the face of prescription collection service. It allows your GP to
directly send the prescription to the pharmacy you nominate. You can then
collect your medicines from the pharmacy, or you can receive them to your home.
You will have a choice to choose the place to get your
medication. You may not have to wait for longer hours in the pharmacy, as your
pharmacist will keep your medicine prepared. If you choose an online pharmacy,
you need not even require going to a pharmacy; you get your medication right at
your doorstep.
Is EPS right for you?
The NHS Electronic Prescription Service is right for you if
you have a stable condition and you do not want to visit your GP frequently to
collect your prescription. It is also right for you if you collect your repeat
medicine from the same place at all times.
EPS is not right for you if you do not get your prescription
very often or pick up your medicine from various places.
How can you use EPS?
If you want to use the NHS Electronic Prescription Service,
you need to choose a place, which is called “nomination”. You can choose a
pharmacy (local or online), dispensing appliance contractor, or a dispensing GP
practice. You can nominate Pharmacy Outlet to get started with the NHS
Electronic Prescription Service.
Your electronic prescription will be seen only by your prescribing
doctor, Pharmacy Outlet pharmacist and NHS authorities. You can change or
cancel the nomination if you are not satisfied with the service.
