The Repeat Prescription Online Service, or the Electronic
Prescription Service (EPS), is designed to help people get their prescriptions
with great ease and comfort. The service enables a doctor to send a patient’s
repeat prescription to the pharmacy via the internet. Patients can collect
their medicine from the pharmacy store or request for a home delivery that is free.
One of the chief reasons behind this initiation is to reduce
the waste in the NHS. Experts are concerned because millions are wasted each
year due to stockpiling, over-ordering and unused medication. The EPS is much
safer and allows experts to monitor over-use and under-use of medications
efficiently.
NHS Prescription Cost
The NHS Prescription Charge is £8.60 for each item from 1st
April 2017. Most patients collecting the repeat prescriptions do not pay
prescription charges.
If you have to pay prescription charges and need more than
four prescription medicines in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months,
you can save money by getting a PPC (Prescription Prepayment Certificate).
Prescription Requests
You can request a repeat prescription online UK in the
following ways:
- Online (please ask your pharmacist how to sign up online)
- By post, using the repeat prescription slip
- In person, handing over the prescription slip to the pharmacy
Most pharmacies in the UK offer the NHS Electronic
Prescription Service. They will make necessary arrangements to collect your repeat
prescription electronically to dispense and deliver your regular medicines.
Please allow at least two working days (excluding weekends
and bank holidays) for your prescription request to be dispensed. More
importantly, make sure you re-order when you still have a week’s supply left.
This gives enough time for a pharmacist to collect your prescription from your
doctor. Do not stockpile medications at home. Please order only those
prescription items that you need.
PharmacyOutlet is one of the UK’s online pharmacies based in
Surrey. It operates as a fully stocked online pharmacy that fulfils the
prescription needs of people and offers free delivery for NHS prescriptions. Call
